Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a 2 years/3years professional degree course designed specially to meet the demand of qualified IT professionals in the field of Information Technology. The program focuses on imparting theoretical background and practical exposure to students. Many institutes also offer MCA as a year's course, which includes on job training. During any MCA course, students are taught Systems Enterprise Resource Planning, Computer Networks, System Administration, Web Designing and Development, Designing, Application Software Development, Database Administration, Parallel and Vector Processing, Data Mining and Warehousing, etc.

Student with a Bachelor's degree (minimum 3 years duration) in any discipline and have studied Mathematics at the (10+2) school level or at the Bachelor's level stands eligible for AIMCT.
There is no specific age limit. Student with Bachelor's degree in any discipline and have studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects in 10+2 or higher level with 50% aggregate (45% in case of person with disability born in Maharashtra or backward class) stands eligible for MAH MCA CET.
Apart from these, there are private colleges that offer MCA courses. These colleges are affiliated under renowned universities. One can simply apply to these colleges and follow the admission procedure.
Another most important aspect you need to clear in mind is the MCA entrance test syllabus. The universities mainly frame and follow the following syllabus in general, algebra, metrics, and determinants, theory of equations, calculus and real analysis, trigonometry, numerical analysis, statistics etc. Computer awareness and logical reasoning is also a part of the syllabus for the MCA entrance test.

MCA Entrance exam pattern varies from university to university. We would explain patterns of few popular universities.
All India MCA common entrance test - This will be a total of 200 marks paper having 4 asides. Mathematics (10+2) Level - 100 Questions, Computer Awareness - 40 Questions, Analytical ability & Logical Reasoning - 40 Questions and General Awareness - 20 Questions.
MAH MCA CET - A total of 200 marks, multiple choice questions of 2.5 hours duration with no negative marking will be conducted in English only. The questions will have 5 answer option to each.
Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar conducts 180 marks objective type entrance test. The paper is divided into 3 parts; Mathematical ability with 100 questions, Logical & Analytical Ability with 40 questions and English Comprehension with 40 questions. There is no negative marking.
Symbiosis Institute of CS & Research conducts 120 minutes objective type test with 150 questions. The paper is of total 180 marks consisting of 4 asides. General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability (40 questions of marks). Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency (40 questions of 40 marks). General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario (40 questions of 40 marks). Analytical & Logical Reasoning (30 questions of 60 marks)
