Eligibility Criteria: The eligibility criteria for NDA exams are as follows:
The guidelines as outlined for UPSC for eligibility to NDA are as follows:
(i)For Army wing of National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are pursuing/appearing in the 12th Class under 10+2 Pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.
Age: The eligibility for age depends on the guidelines released by the UPSC. For the examination held on Sep 2014, the candidates had to be born in between 2nd January 1996 to 1st January 1999. Candidates? age should be between 16? to 19 Years.
For admission in National Defence Academy, the candidates have to appear for the written examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission), which is held twice a year. They can apply through online or offline application process. By clearing this exam, the candidates get shortlisted for further selection process, which include interview and physical examination and one gets into the armed forces like Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wings after clearing all tests.
The NDA exam pattern is mostly divided into two sections.
I. Written Examination: There are two papers in NDA (National defence academy) and National Academy (NA) written exam. The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers of Part A Mathematics & Part B of General Ability Test will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English. Time duration for each paper is 2 ? 1st Paper: Mathematics (Maximum Marks- 300)
Algebra, matrices and determinants, trigonometry, analytical geometry of two and three dimensions, differential calculus, integral calculus and differential equations, vector algebra, statistics, and probability.
2nd Paper: General Ability (Maximum Marks- 300)
English, General Knowledge on Current Events, Physics, Social Studies, Geography and General Science, History, freedom movement details, Knowledge about Sports events, Cultural Events etc.
Written Exam: The written examination will be conducted in two parts of 2 ? hours each mainly acrosstwo subjects, Mathematics and General Ability Test. The maximum marks for Mathematics is 300 & General ability is 600. The questions will be in objective type format and the questions will be available in two languages; Hindi and English. The Commission will fix the qualifying marks for any or all the subjects in the examination.
Interview (SSB):The candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for an interview to be conducted by the Services Selection Board or SSB. There is a Intelligence Test and a Personality test for Army, Navy Wings & 10 +2 Entry Scheme candidates; however, for Air Force Wing, the candidates must undergo a Pilot Aptitude Test. The verbal and non-verbal tests are conducted to assess the intelligence of the candidate. In addition, a number of group activities like outdoor tasks, group discussions, group planning and lectures, and speech on specified subjects are also conducted to assess the overall knowledge and intelligence of the candidate.
To apply for the NDA exam, the aspirants who fulfil the eligibility criteria should fill an application form.
For filling up the forms, the candidates need to pay a fee of Rs. 100 by net banking facility of SBI, or by using a SBI debit/credit card, or by using a bank challan. The application form is available online.
The following are the common exam centres for the NDA exam. The centres may change at the behest of the UPSC. No change of centre will be entertained at the request of the candidate. In case, if UPSC changes the centre, they will inform the candidate about the same.
